The world has changed immensely. Simple things like traveling, eating out and meeting people have become a luxury. My husband and I have spent the lockdown imposed in India quite religiously. Initially, it was difficult (as it was for everyone) staying at home. We decided we will venture out after the lockdown ended. In September, however, we decided we will visit places around Mysore.
We visited Kabini backwaters, Shivanasamudra, and Sagarkatte. We packed lunch and a few munchies and left by car. Our first visit was to Kabini backwaters which is about 60 km from Mysore. Take an early morning ride and it will take you about an hour and half to reach. It is a beautiful drive with greenery and the destination is definitely a treat for the eyes.

Shivanasamudra is about 80 km from Mysore. The river Kaveri surrounds the land and makes it into an island. There are two waterfalls that you can visit Barachukki and Gaganachukki. The steep waterfall of Gaganachukki gushes at the height of 98 meters.

Sagarkatte is about 25kms from Mysore. You can witness the backwaters of Krishnaraja sagara. During monsoon, sagarkatte looks like a wonderful sea. There is a railway track that goes across the water. We then visited Chunchanakatte and the Sri Kondana Rama temple.
