My new habits after COVID-19

After graduation, I landed a job at an IT company and have been working in a 9 to 5 routine for 3 years. There were instances where I felt detached from what I was doing. I felt like I was on an autopilot mode. Then COVID-19 happened, I realized I had stopped living. Living as in pursuing and doing things that made me happy.

I am a creative person, I find joy in making things. According to me, what have you lived if you haven’t left behind something nice or have had an impact on someone positively? This is what keeps me running. So during the quarantine, I decided to pick up some of my hobbies and a few activities-

Gardening

Isn’t it fascinating to watch plants grow. The literal fruits of your labor. I like to watering them, de-weed them and harvest the fruits they bear. I recently started growing tomatoes, spinach, chilies and coriander in my garden. I do not get a large quantity of harvest but with the little pieces I get, I am happy!

Painting

I’m not great at it but it brings me joy. I am very much into mixing colors for the background and also find it super therapeutic. I found it difficult initially as I could not finish the piece with the finesse I was hoping for but then I realized most things in life are like that and you still need to deliver. I gradually became better at it and learn more each time.

Organizing

I find organizing brings in a lot of positive energy. I started with organizing my closet, my vanity and my working space. Going through my closet, I freed up space by ridding of the stuff that would not fit me anymore and things that could be repurposed. By clearing up my working space, I felt refreshed and I could work with more discipline. I feel a clear demarcation from home and work is necessary for you to get into that mindset. With these three habits I plan on to add reading books and more importantly writing in my blog.
